Two versions of women in Iran. Both, as far as I know, are true images.

Interesting video Ramin. It's not atypical for TV to reduce systemic and institutional discrimination down to the lowest denominator of interpersonal prejudice. Ther's also a long tradition of news media conducting experiments (remember 'Black Like Me') to test or research a larger phenomemon.
WHat particularly strikes me isthe way stereotypes are naturalized through conditions enacted through systemic power: becuase of a societal climate of Islamophobia, a Muslim may be forced to 'live down to the stereotype' of being meek simply to maintain personal security (ie having a chaperone) in the face of personal attacks that non-Muslim don't systemically face.

Question for Under One Sky, as came up in the Pop Culture presentations:
How do you feel about the change in lyrics in the opening number from Aladdin? How does the erasure of Hammurabi's Code from the history of the Middle East affect your view of the area? How does it affect your understanding of the film, even though the ideas and themes of Hammurabi's Code come up later in the film?
